Atherton to Cape Tribulation.

We decided to stay at the big4 caravan park in Atherton but finding it full we were pleased when the owner said we could stay in the block next door which suited just fine.It took us a few days to do our jobs promising our selves that we will return to the area one day. Then it was of to Lake Tinaroo where we found plenty of camp sites and some of the most strangest trees, old homesteads and a beautiful lake hopefully next trip we will have a kayak to explore the water ways.

Driving on to Port Douglass we went through  Mount Molloy and just pass it we came across and sign on the road that read Kingfisher Park (not to be confused with the one in the NT) it read bird watching and night tours. That was enough for Vickie to say turn here . It was a lovely camp site and the birds where amazing and the night tour opened a whole new world for us not only seeing birds but possums, bush rats and all sorts of things. After three day it was on to Port Douglass and another caravan park but in the bigger city's you don't have a choice here we caught up with one of Megan's friends Sally and looked around town I could not get over the size of the resorts I thought I was in another country it would have been a nice place 20 years ago . While at the park we meet a couple that were leaving for the Cape about 4 days before us we  said we will try to cach up some where up there .
Two days was enougth in the park and it was on to the world famouse Daintree and we can see why it has a world heritage listing so much to see and do and most of the time in misty rain but nice and warm .

We decided to do a day trip up to Bloomfield Falls and the Lions Den pub a great pub with lots of history to read . The road was good but very steep and narrow, I recond you could tow the van with plenty of care on the hills.
