Port Douglas to Lakefield N.P.

We can reccondmend a stay in the Daintree Cape Trib area it is a very special place with the beautiful
Ulysses butterfly and the great Daintree River, where we did a evening bird wacthing trip.
Then it was back to stay at Port Douglas as we had to get the ute serviced and vote. We found out the only place we could do this was in Cairns. It is a nice drive from Port Douglas to Cairns with a stop in at Oak beach for coffee, here the houses are right on the beach with palm tree all around.
After a few day and stocking up with stores it was up the big hill and on our way to the northern tip of Australia.First stop was a little river which we latter found out was McLeod River it was morning tea time which for me is a nice strong coffee. While having coffee a young bloke  pulled up for  his smoko!
he was a local and told us all about the area and that he was leasing a gold mine and trying to make his fortune. That day was a big smoko because when Ashley left it was 2oclock so we where not going any further to day. Actually it was that nicer spot we stayed two nights it was interesting how the water in the river flowed away from the ocean and ended up inland.

Hitting the road again and it was soon that we turned of the Cook town road and on to the Peninsula Developmental Road we found the going easy with tyre pressure down to 28pis. Lake field N.P.was the next camp spot to do some bird watching .

Traveling thought Lake Field makes you realise what a wonder full and diverse county we have. One night we camped at a spot which later we found was called suicide corner because of the crocs and the low banks on the river any way we thought it was nice even with all the eyes in the water at night.
you cant escape the washing even out here so being near water it was washing day in paradise.
